TRiO Student Support Services

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world" ~ Gandhi

This unique program at FM assists students to adjust to the college environment, to be successful academically, and to plan and prepare for fruitful careers or transfer to a four-year college.

TRiO Student Support Services is a grant funded program from the U.S. Department of Education and has been a part of FM's services to students since 2005. We provide assistance to at least 160 active students every year. Students who participate in the program come from every academic department and major on campus. To participate in the program, students must meet eligibility guidelines such as: first generation college student (neither parent has a 4 year degree), income qualified (if you received significant PELL grants you probably qualify) or a student with a documented disability (physical, mental or learning).

To become a TRiO student and to help you build a strong foundation for academic success, we encourage you to participate in the many workshops we offer throughout the academic year.  In addition to workshops we also provide academic advising, tutoring, career information, help with financial aid concerns, workshops, and help understanding academic policies and procedures.

We are part of a national effort by the U.S. Department of Education to make the opportunity for success in college available to low-income and first generation students, and/or students with disabilities.
